After 33 years as the founder, CEO and Chair of the Board of Grieg Seafood, Per Grieg Jr. has decided to step down from the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting on the 4th of June 2025.
For more than three decades, Per Grieg Jr. has developed Grieg Seafood into becoming the world’s 9th largest salmon farming company, with production in Finnmark and Rogaland in Norway, as well as British Columbia and Newfoundland in Canada.
“It has been a true privilege to develop and lead Grieg Seafood throughout these years. I am lucky to have worked with many fantastic colleagues in both Norway and abroad. I am proud to have played a role in developing Norway’s second largest export industry from local communities along the coast. Now it is time to pass the baton to a new generation. I will be rooting for Grieg Seafood and the salmon farming industry from the sidelines,” says Per Grieg Jr.
Per Grieg Jr. went from shipping to the salmon farming industry in 1992, when he co-founded the sales company Grieg Seafood Salmon. From acquiring a stake in small salmon farms in Rogaland in 1993, Grieg Seafood is planning to harvest 84 000 tons of salmon in 2025. The company has a market value of approximately 7,7 billion NOK.
Nina Willumsen Grieg has been the acting CEO of Grieg Seafood ASA since March 2025. At that time, Per Grieg Jr. stepped down as Chair of the Board and became a regular Board Member. The Board of Directors has an ongoing process to hire the permanent CEO.
